The 103rd Illinois State Checker Tournament will be held on April 5^th & 6^th 2008 at the Illinois Centre Mall - 3000 W Deyoung St #604, which is located near the intersection of 57 and same as State Highway 13 (Exit 54B), Marion, Illinois. Registration on Saturday is from 8:00-9:00 a.m. with the business meeting at 9:00 a.m. and playing beginning at 9:45 a.m. There will be four rounds on Saturday and three on Sunday. I hope to have enough players for a “C” division to attract beginners. The entry fee will be $10.00.

A recommended motel is the Super 8 in Marion, Illinois. Phone number for the Super 8 is 618-993-5577. This is a newly renovated and very clean motel. Room rates are $35.00 plus tax. Directions to Super 8 is located to the left off the first stop light West of Exit 54 B. The mall is located at the 3rd stop light west of the same exit. Turn right at this third light and go to the back of the mall toward the Target parking lot. Park in the lot before Target and the door will lead to the food court where we will be playing. The American Checker Federation requires membership ($25.00) for all participants at ACF-sanctioned tournament. All Class “A” players must have ACF membership to play. Class “B ” player will not be required to have ACF or Associate membership to play this year.

I received an email from Dr. Richard Beckwith, ACF Player's Representative which stated a new dues schedule will appear in our "ACFB" April bulletin.

Essentially, all ACF memberships will revert back to a January-December calendar year cycle rather than being good for the 12 months at the time dues are paid. So if people pay their dues mid-year, the $25 will be pro-rated down.

For example (and these are the announcement differences), for the Illinois tournament in April, ACF dues will be $18.75 (April to December 2008) rather than $25 for regular membership. Read Actual Document
